apistogramma mendezi tankmates

hi i've been looking around the internet and i can't really find expeditions etc where a.mendezi has been caught in the wild and what other fish live together with this beauty in it's natural habitat...can someone help me gathering info...grtz

Hoplias sp. and Crenicichla sp. are commonly found with A. mendezi (not recommended tank mates, being apisto predators). Better tank mates would be smaller tetras and pencilfish from the Rio Negro. If you want a 'natural community' there are many pretty, commercially available, species from the middle Negro: Cardinal/Red Neons, Bleher's Rummynose Tetra, 3-line and dwarf pencilfish just to name a few. If you're interested in breeding your apistos expect the tetras - not the pencilfish - to eat most of the fry that appear.

all right thanks for the info...the first two are not an issue because i was targeting at smaller fish occur together with a.mendezi...
