Any kind of shrimp no matter how much cover, will be hunted down by any cichlids and eaten, regardless of their size. you will basically be wasting your money adding apistos and shrimp to the same tank.

No they DO NOT accept live ornamental fish, PERIOD. They don't accept live animals at all, labelling them was the worst thing you could have done. Whoever said they accept live fish was wrong, in this case. DEAD WRONG.

It will still be a problem being in with the rams unfourtunately though, either use the tank for the A. eremnopyge or for the rams, because having them in the same tank will probably amount to nothing.

Dwarf puffers, despite their size are one of the more aggressive FW species, I don't recommend moving them around your fishroom as you suggest. They will nip the fins of and even may kill apistos, I had two dwarf puffers kill an 8 inch pacu early in my fish keeping ventures.
They're more than likely sub dominant males, they have no signs of being a female at all.

The abdominal spot is not big enough for a female, and it's blue. The spot on a female is black and much larger. The black on the face is larger on the female as well.
