Mikrogeophagus sp. "red belly"
taken from zoopet.com
anyone have more info? like what made it to be red?
i believe the jaw locking is sign of agression between 2 males. if a pair is in breeding condition, they will swim side by side and shake or jiggle thieir body.
before the next time they spawn, i should have another 10gallon just for them set up.
the eggs have been eaten. the predators i have are 2 x khuli loaches, 2 x bushy nose pleco, corys (dont go on leaves though), SAE, otto cat. : )
this is the 2nd time my german ram pair have spawned since i bought them 2 weeks ago. they male is guarding the eggs now, but i have few egg eaters. my buddy told me to leave the light on so the male can see any predators and protect the eggs. should i do this? or remove the eggs? thanks
yea when i first bought him from t he LFS, i thought he was stressed sing he's always brown. now he's almost black. when he's courting with the female, and right when im doing water changes, he'll turn light brown with black stripe.
here's a pic of my german rams spawning.

as you can see in the picture, my sterbais came by and had a good meal.
how long until the female is...

thanks for the tips.
my cacutoide pair will eat anything. including flakes and pellets. the female is a little shy on food, she takes a while to go for hte flakes. i dont feed flakes anymore since its my lowest grade food, but i try for fun once in a while and they eat it, but they dont jump...
whats the best food i can provide for my apistos. for growth and breeding. i know variety is good, im currently feeding frozen blood worms, frozen brine shrimp, color bits. i just want to get some more foods.
i was thinking of getting, ocean nutrition (or omega one) and cichlid complete from...
anyone have experience with this food? my buddy told me it was really good. im mainly looking to feed my apisto cacutoides and sterbai cory with it. comments and input on hikari cichlid complete welcome. how good is it in helping fish grow and condition for breeding. im currently feeding stable...
