    A. cacatuoides -- is this the yellow

What are you feeding the fry? I had minimum success until I started using microworms. Other food were too large for their mouths and few made it.

    Let's see your cacatu's.....

Thought I would bump this up. Would anyone like to share some pics of your male caca?

    Accidentally got an Apisto!

Whether it is a super red or triple red, it is a nice looking fish. Nothing wrong with a wild caught or tank raised. I have some quads and waiting to see how the fry come out. They are starting to show their color now...........

My male and female Apisto cacatuoides "Orange flash"

I have read that the male is known to eat the babies to get the female to breed again........I would keep them seperate. I would pull the female and put her back with the male and raise babies separately. I would keep her there until she stops watching over them. My female watched over hers...

Matt: A. Cacatouides - it is an aquarium strain from Thialand. The male has the same coloring as well (coloring on all five fins) Looking forward to seeing the frys' colors (hopelly holds true to the parents, especially the femles). I have the water at cooler temps hoping to get more...

apistogramma cacatuoides not eating!! help =(

Agree with Josh above, if they came from water conditions that varied a good bit from yours they may still be trying to acclimate? If so, they probably needed a longer acclamation (adding small amounts of water over time) time before you put them in...

    Older vs. Younger fry

Not sure if anyone remembers my earlier post (lol), but I see I actually have three older siblings. One is really getting big fast. Anyway, I spent some time watching them and actually saw a newer fry swim right in the middle of all three of them (brave soul) and they totally ignored him. In...

    Older vs. Younger fry

Thanks Gerald. Yes, I put food at the other end, but as you can imagine, they are curious about what they missing on the other end. Actually, they don't even eat the fry food, as the fry are still eating microworms, they just want what I give the mom. They just happen to be near mom.

    Older vs. Younger fry

Thanks Micke, but I think I have already pushing my limits on tanks, well at least as far as my spouse is concerned. It might be easier to catch the younger ones than the two older sibblings. Mike, unfortunately I have some long pieces of driftwood which does not allow for partitioning. I...

    Older vs. Younger fry

Thanks Gerald. I work for a living, but I do feed them in the AM before I leave and twice in the PM. I was just wondering if they would actually harm them. It is probably just an aggressive charge, but they are also more than twice the size and could easily take them out if they wanted to...

    Older vs. Younger fry

I have a female and her fry in a tank and recently two larger fry from a previous batch popped up. They seem very aggressive with the new fry and look like wolves stalking them. The female does her best to run them off. I presume they are just coming in because they are coming after the food...

I do not have experience shipping fish, but of course would guarantee live delivery. I hope to have a mix of males/females and have set the temperature to give me the best chance, so we shall see. I have found that two fry from a previous spawn survive and are getting large quickly. In fact...

Aquabid is usually good, but in the cold season it is a bit slow. When it gets warmer you will see more. That being said, there are a couple listed. Just make sure they guarantee the fish. I have some quad fry, but it will be another month or so before they are ready.

Not sure what you concern is over shipping as they do it all the time and the good ones guarantee live delivery. Of course this time of the year you have to do overnight and it is expensive. Otherwise, it is done all the time....

WTB Cacatuoides in St Louis or ship

I am not in St Louis, but I am about four hours south of you in Memphis. I have a couple of triple males I could sell if you are coming down this way anytime soon. I have some fry from two quads, but they are only about three weeks old at this time. Fingers crossed on them as they should...
