    Sexing the German Ram.

I found this online... How true is this last statement that I've bolded? I am curious, because I have acquired two new rams. One has these blue spangles and the other does not. If it was a male/female combo I would be delighted! (Then I would just have to wait, hope and pray that they...

    A. cac and betta?

Not really. I enjoy watching my green terror/oscar/silver dollar tank. And there's no mating going on in there. I also enjoy watching my piranha tank, and it's just him and some 10-15 head & tail light tetras (meant as feeders). I want an odd ball show tank. I'm not trying to breed.

    Nano Tank for Ram

Really? I've seen a lot of people with 5 gallons set up for breeding apistos and various killies. Works great for them.

    A. cac and betta?

Think it could work out? I've been observing the male my dad has in his 10 gallon community and there's been no issues at all. I was thinking about maybe putting a single male in my 10 gallon with my male betta. Or is the finnage a recipe for disaster? The male betta is white/sky blue...

    Dead cacatuoides female.

:frown: So I'm one sad boy tonight. I came home from work, fed the fish as I usually do. And everything seemed fine in the tank with the apisto pair in it. I fell asleep on the couch this evening and when I came up to bed, as this particular tank is in my room, my female was lying dead on...

    Would they kill?

It could be either 10 gallons or a 20 gallon long. Would a pair of cacatuoides do alright with a small school of black phantom tetras in a 10 gallon? Just trying to figure out my options here.

    Would they kill?

Sorry, didn't quite understand that... No guppies then?

    Would they kill?

Would a pair of A. cacatuoides kill fish such as guppies, dwarf gouramis, platies or cories? Obvious reason is yes I have a tank with those fish and was wondering if the pair could co-exist with any of them... It would be an odd ball tank, I know, but is it doable? Or is it certain death...

New apistos... setting up for them.

I could put in white clouds? That would be awesome. I have 11 of them in a 5 gallon that I didn't know what to do with... Would they not also pick off the fry though? And if I were to set them up for breeding, would I be able to do so in a 10 gallon tank opposed to the 20 long?

New apistos... setting up for them.

I got a pair of Apistogramma cacatuoides and they're quite nice fish. At the moment I have them in a 20 gallon long tank, but it's just the two of them, the gravel and some terra cotta pots. It's a rather plain tank to be honest and I'm hoping to set up a bio-tope-ish environment for them. I was...

    where purchase Apisto borellii?

I know someone here in Ottawa was at a Montreal fish auction and picked up 5 Apisto. cacatuoides for $7 (orange flash and double red mix in the bag). And that's Canadian! Chances are you'd be able to get a good price.

    Biotope

Dang. THat would've made for a very cool set of fish.

Could a harem of A. cacatuoides live with a pair of angels in a 55 gallon?

    Apisto semi-aggressive tank?

I've asked this question on a few cichlid forums and everyone has told me that A. panduro can be quite aggressive and I might want to shy away from them. I was just doing some calling around today to LFS and was told that one store has some in. I did some research - looked at pics - and thought...

    Apisto semi-aggressive tank?

Hi there. I recently acquired a 55 gallon tank (largest tank I have so far - 48x12x21) and I really would like to do a semi-aggressive set-up with some Apisto. sp. The types I have available to me in stores are A. cacatuoides, A. agassizii, and A. panduro. I was wondering if any (or all) of...
