Hi,
no more yellow for the moment. Ok that ain't a real problem. My real problem is that the male A. paucisquamis is "missed in action". No sign, nothing to see, no male. Tomorrow i empty the tank completely. Sh**!
Kind regards
Marc
Thank you Blue. This evening i saw her first time in a nice metallic yellow coloration. It looks spectecular but it is possible that this effect depends to the use of a diode-flashlite. I'am still not able to find eggs. The tank is abundandly covered with moss and leaves.
Kind regards
Marc (a...
Hi,
according to the informations given in "Rio Negro - Rich Life in poor Water" and the informations provided from Michael Schlüter within his A. pertensis-article, 26°C matches the A. paucisquamis habitat.
Good News today: She starts digging, building a huge sand pile in front of a cave...
Hi Blueblue, :)
yes double red tips (but just a little bit red), yellow belly. Blue iridescend highlights, nearly like a mask, blue pectoral and anal fins, and these wonderful broad metallic - like a mix of brass and copper - stripe along the black one.
Real beauties... and no camera. I'am...
Hi,
no news from my A. paucisquamis. After a relative long time where the males shows more or less (but never really alarming) agressive behaviour against the females the situation cooled down. There is no breeding activity, the females shown well rounded bellys but no "action".
Temp.: 25° to...
Hi Susan,
first: In my humble opinion, you need zotero (www.zotero.org) ;-).
It is not as easy to write down a complete lists of (good) sources. There are Blackwell Synergies, Springer, Mapress (Zootaxa), Copeia and many more. May be it is a good idea first to get an overview. According to...
Hi,
yesterday, Rolo brought me two pairs of beautiful and healthy Apistogramma pauciquamis (wildcaught).
Is anybody able to share some experiences about keeping and breeding these beauties?
Kind regards
Marc
p.s.: All actual literature sources like Staeck, Linke & Staeck, Koslowski, Datz...
Hi Rafael,
my most actual source is the DATZ special edition "South American Dwarf Cichlids" (written by Bohnet/Koslowski, translated by Mike Wise), here you will find:
There is a solid amount of work to be done at the B.A.R.S.C.H.-page.
Kind regards
Marc
Hi Chris,
>>>here<<< you find a complete keeping and breeding report written in German Language by Axel G., including wonderful pictures! If there are problems with google translations or similar tools please feel free to ask for a translation. But i'am not able to translate parts of this...
Hi Rafael,
it works (at my computer) with a actual Acrobat Reader (Version 8.1.2 Win2000 SP4) in Firefox 2.0.0.14.
Sometimes the respond-time of the Dresden-University Server is a little slow.
Kind regards
Marc
Dear Jason,
in my humble opinion (a the low picture quality saves my head  ) it is Nannostomus mortenthaleri. Please take a look here or here. Hmmm, possibly i'am wrong, the black stripe goes straight into the tailfin? That's more like N. beckfordi but that is no beckfordi. Maybe a new...
Hi BlueBlue,
a good first procedure for every digital picture, is to watermark them. Good watermarks cannot be deleted and they are a good evidence about the real copyrights. There is some interesting watermark-freeware available.
Second, it is possible to add an jpg-comment and additional...
Hi Mike,
i've used and still use it in cases of emergency (artemia doesn't breed properly, unexpected offspring i.e. )and it works well. I use/d it in combination with Liquifry or Nobilfluid. Just a little water, decapsuled artemia and some drops of Liquyfry. To apply this food next to...
