I was afraid I'd leave a few ppm of bleach after washing it post-bleaching. Now i know the heavy dose of dechlorinator is the key. Thanks Mike! :)
@regani: Yeah, agree with the silicone seal & glass expansion. Good thing I haven't started cleaning as I'm waiting for the weekend. Thanks! :)
so i guess keeping apisto's in a full planted tank is still ok. I do see them very happy swooping around crypto/anubias leaves and inquisitively hunting red cherry shrimps in moss & dwarf sags. I'll still continue my regular clean up on falling off leaves & glad left overs aren't much detriment...
Thanks Darrel.. i don't use any salts nor do i have UVs, so i guess i'm still on-track.
Regarding food, if I can only provide live food occasionally & pellets/wafers most of the time, would you guys recommend I stop Apisto's & settle for a different specie?
Another follow-up, i'm on a fully...
Mike, I've started to be a believer of quarantine/hospital tanks the way you do it. Just a question on the sponge filter, how do you clean/sterilize it in between old-new fish in Q.tank? Currently previous fish had hexamita/bacterial infection (gone) and I'm not yet 100% sure on what the new...
Given the susceptibility, would you happen to have any best practices to share in terms of water chemistry? say 10-50ppm / UV sterilizer / et al. I just hear the usual clean water quality, wondering if any of you do some pinch of salt to prevent bacterial infections (especially hexamita).
Wow... I just got a bonus, been researching about immunity systems of freshwater fauna as I try to stay away from medications. In case you have reliable reading materials about it, please share if it's not too much to ask. I've once cured a tumor with an Otocinclus just by putting it in an...
Btw, thanks to all of you guys for sharing & throwing ideas on this thread, appreciate it much.
I'm starting to fully digest the situation now, so I guess the only question left is:
~ Given my main concern is my main tank (got my beloved Apisto's/Pencilfishes/Otocinclus in there), am I...
First off, thanks for the welcome, been reading here for a while and this site has helped me a lot being an apisto-lover.
1.) I have 2 A.Viejita & 1 A.Macmasteri, may have switched it so I'll try to post the other when I get a decent pic to double check. Got crappy cam.
3.) My source already...
I'm hoping someone can check the pics of my A.Viejita, specifically the forehead area. The spot on the head (not sure if its a white mark or a shallow hole) is bugging me being new to this specie. I don't want to conclude ich/hexamita/HitH, so am hoping any experienced ones in here like Mike can...
