Thanks for your replies. I will try and get some wood, I just don't know if I want silk plants anymore, some look very realistic, some don't. I am looking into Apistos again as shelldwellers are not available in any LFS near me, and I would rather buy fish that are available to buy in shops...

I've haven't had much luck with keeping plants in my aquariums and generally use silk plants. I have lost the appeal of slik plants, and in my Rift Lake tanks I no longer use any. I am still looking into keeping Apistos and wondered if it is possible to house Apistos in all rocky tanks...
Thanks for recommending Trimar, I had a look at their site and they stock shellies too, so when I get the tanks sorted I will order some fish.:biggrin:
What courier delivered your fish from Trimar? I myself am concerned that people on eBay are sending fish via Royal Mail, the issue has been raised a few times in Practical Fishkeeping magazine and on their website. It's not something I agree with.
I've pondered over ordering some from a seller on eBay, but I've never ordered live fish before so I don't know if it's worth the risk, and Apistos are pretty fragile aren't they. I am going to have a look around over the next few days for species. The LFS has told me they will have Multis in...
Borelli is one of the species I'm looking for, but I haven't seen any yet, so I will keep looking. Cockatoos seem the most common, but like I said they were strangely out of stock the other day.:confused:
I'll give Viejita a miss then, it was the only Apisto in the store at the weekend, but I will look around for some of the other Apisto species suggested. I have all the kit for both shellies and Apistos so it's just a case of me buying the tanks.:)
Well I had a look in the LFS and all the Cockatoos were gone, they had a pair of A.Viejita for £14 and a lot of Dwarf Flag Cichlids for a couple of pounds. Will they work in a small tank? I may now be able to get a larger tank than 5 gallons now, I found some tanks that are about 8-10 gallons...
But if they weren't spawning do you think it would work? I was thinking of some smaller Cories like Pandas. Once again my LFS has a great selection of fish, but doesn't stock the pygmy types of corydoras. I have left out Otos as I have had terrible luck with them, and mentioned Pitbull Plecos...
