Yet More Bolivian Ram Questions...

Hi Folks!

First of all, thanks for the info given so far.

Update on my new Bolivians:
They are adjusting well, eating decently, and enjoying the plants.

Now for the question...
While they are coloring up, they still have several vertical stripes on them. Also, I noticed some beautiful blue coming in on one...believe he's male.

Are the stripes a sign of immaturity, stress or ???

Do the stripes indicate male/female? What is the easiest way to sex these cute little critters?

All Mikrogeophagus species have vertical bars across the flanks of the body. These are typically seen on stressed, frightened, or juvenile fish.

Well, as they're all juves, Less than or right at 1 inch that would explain the stripes.

Now, as far as sexing them, would size be a good indicator?

Do females show any of the blue colors or is that just a male trait? I'm trying to determine if they're pairing up or just playing.
