The fish being exported as yellow kribs for the past few years is P. pulcher. I wish that the were sp. aff. subocellatus, but after trying several times to get them by ordering 'yellow kribs' I have geven up.
I have seen them in stores for as little as 5.99 each. When I get them from Toyin wholesale I usually pay about $4.00 per fish after shipping. They are very nice P. pulcher. Very bright yellow on the face of the females. I like to have a few around to breed to tank strain lines every few generations.
If you are seeing them on a retailer or wholealer's list as for a picture, or send them pictures of P. sp. aff. subocellatus to see if it is that fish. If you need a pic lift it off www.tedsfishroom.com. There are also images of the wild P. pulcher there.
The ones that I have seen listed were around $5 each wholesale.. It's been my frequent experience that suppliers will say that the fish you want are the fish that they have in stock but the fish magically 'change I.D.' in transit (sometimes they shrink also)....
