If you are in North America I don't think it has ever been commercially imported. I haven't seen them offered for sale since 2021.

I'm in North Carolina and actually got a pair from Sal Silvestri who just passed away. I just lost the female. I don't know where he got the original pair from?

I'm really sad to hear of Sal's passing. He had been an apisto keeper for as long as me. Sal knew a lot of hobbyist-collectors so probably got them from a non-commercial source.
