After some absense from apistogramma I had picked up a trio of Vietta back in February, and I thought that my fish had spawned several times, however, I never saw any eggs, or fry. Unfortunely, I lost my male and the breeding female for unknown causes. So I moved the remaining female up to my 55 gal. tank with 2Mcmasteri.About 3 weeks ago I came across a pair of A. CaCatoides and put them in the 29. When I was feeding this afternoon, quite unexpectedly, there was the female leading a school of fry. I started 2 brine shrimp hatcheries right away and I am hopeful that my heavily planted tank came provide enough food until the hatcherries start to produce. I wish that I had some kind of warning about the impending spawn, it seems, to me, that the female was just starting to color up and bang, I have got free swimming fry.
What are my chances on getting these fry live food before they die? Thanks, David
