Dear all,

There is a conference in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil
in September 2006, and i am invited to join. I am still
thinking about joining it or not... One thing in
my mind is: May i also visit some interesting places
in Brasil for apistos? :)

I could afford to stay a few days for sight-seeing,
are there any recommendations to me so that i could
take a look at some good apistos aquariums/fish farms?
Or could i go to some safe areas to take a look at the
amazon river (and apistos)? Will it be a problem if i could
only speak english? Any recommendations will be
most appreciated. :)

Thanks much - blue

I am sorry to say that Salvador is hundreds of kilometres away from any apisto habitats.

OH...... So, are there any aquariums/stores (perferably larger scale ones)
near by so that i can visit and take some photos?

I remembered when i visited Chicago in 1999, i went to the Shed Aquarium
and there're quite a number of cichlids (but so bad that their
fresh water tanks did not have apistos at that time)...

Just curious, if i want to take a look at apistos, what are the biggest
aquariums in the US, Canada, and Germany that i could visit as a tourist?
I think I can choose conferences to attend in those places with good
aquariums, hehee :)

Maybe you can take a short trip to Manaus, i think that domestic airline is not so expensive in Brazil, however my knowledge is a little bit old in this field.

If I would have the possivility I would make contact with some ornamental fish exporter and visit their facility.

Thanks Chris for the suggestions... Hmm... i am just in doubt of whether the
fish exporters will welcome a hobbyist and a tourist like me to visit them ~.~"

There is only one way to find out isn't there? Try contacting them and see what happens. The worst that happens is they say no, but it is also possible they will say yes. If you don't ask, you'll never know.

If you ask them in friendly manner before you go, and I am almost certain they will be glad to have you as a visitor.

Regards / Chris
