I am new to Apistogramma. As a general rule do all females display yellow during courtship and rearing? I have what I think are a pair of steel blues. They are posted in the ID section. I bought 4 but just one is showing the yellow color. I have read that it is difficult to find a female steel blue, did I just get lucky or is it a stressed male?

Female coloration.

Most females show a bright yellow with contrasting black markings when in breeding/brooding mood. Some can be orange or dirty yellow. I looked at your photos, but can't say if the last fish is a female. The photos are just not good enough for this. Anyway the fish certainly doesn't look like it is in brood dress.
