About 5 months ago at the last local fish auction I picked up a bag of 4 Bitaeniata's that were fairly small so I was assuming that I'd have at least one male but now as they are all larger I am sure that I have 4 females. I would like to be able to breed these fish but it's rather difficult without a male so my question is can I just get any male or would it be best to get a specific male. The bag they came in just said Bitaeniata so I don't think they're anything to special but I like to breed Apisto's. Any help would be appreciated

While I can recognize 2 different forms of the species (which might not be the true A. bitaeniata:eek:), and each form shows many distinct populations, studies have never been done on the differences. So for now, I guess you could use any male.
