anyone have more info? like what made it to be red?
this is the 2nd time my german ram pair have spawned since i bought them 2 weeks ago. they male is guarding the eggs now, but i have few egg eaters. my buddy told me to leave the light on so the male can see any predators and protect the eggs. should i do this? or remove the eggs? thanks
here's a pic of my german rams spawning.
it was really awesome to have them spawn 20hours after buying them from the LFS. also it was weird the female laid her eggs on the gravel.
as you can see in the picture, my sterbais came by and had a good meal.
how long until the female is...
i want to create a amazon biotope. but i need to confirm on some fish origin first. im working with 10gallon so no cichlids except dwarf cichlids.
im currently planning for:
black water.
30watts of light.
flourite red
hopefully lots of driftwood
fish:
cardinal tetras
w/ blue rams or...
i have sub adult (2"m,1"f) pair of cacatuoides. i would like to know what kinds of live foods they would eat. i cant imagine them eating super small stuff. but im not sure. any suggestions?
whats the best food i can provide for my apistos. for growth and breeding. i know variety is good, im currently feeding frozen blood worms, frozen brine shrimp, color bits. i just want to get some more foods.
i was thinking of getting, ocean nutrition (or omega one) and cichlid complete from...
anyone have experience with this food? my buddy told me it was really good. im mainly looking to feed my apisto cacutoides and sterbai cory with it. comments and input on hikari cichlid complete welcome. how good is it in helping fish grow and condition for breeding. im currently feeding stable...
the only thing ive seen suggested is coconut shells and flower pots. but what about these?
reptile caves.
i think these are very nice. most are made out of plastic and some out of ceramic . will they cause any problems in the tank? covered with some java fern will be awesome. burying...
i have a slight feeling that my female cacutoides laid its eggs and got eaten by other tank residents. she is yellow with black stripe. she often stays very still with fins flared out. the male will react in the same way until he chases her. the female always goes to back corner of the tank...
are the eggs in trouble in this situation? it might be quite difficult to get the 2 khuli loaches out of this densely planted 10g. also i wouldnt want to have to move the cacutoides to another tank because i think the female just started to settle in, within the dense planting. though no eggs...
hi, ive read many threads on here about sexing species like cacas and borellis. the threads go quite long, so i didnt read all of them.
I'm just wondering, when people have problem sexing, it's because the fish are too young to sex right? i mean, isnt the male the one with more colored fins...
I want to conditoin and buff up my pair of apistos and hopefully try to breed them. Is it too fatty and unhealthy to feed newly hatch brine shrimp everyday? for let's say 5 days.
i was thinking of feeding 20% frozen blood worms and 80% newly hatched brine shrimp.
also what brand brine...
During the last 2 days, my apisto cacatuoides (female at 1.2", male at 2") have been showing some cool behavior.
The female sometimes would stay very still with all fins stretched out in mid water level. sometimes the male will do the same and swim slowly towards her. but while this is all...
From seeing pictures of their natural biotope, i can imagine very very little water current in their tanks.
Im running a AC mini on a 10g and when my apisto cacs. come near the output, they get pushed a bit. im using the filter at half flow. should i make some modifications to lower the current?
Is it normal for the male to chase away the female and sometimes even strike a bite? the female seems somewhat stressed, but do not go into hiding. Im wondering if i should remove the female.
Also can anyoen tell me what is the natural kind of "caves" for these guys. i have some what of a...
