2 months ago I've bought 2+3 of A. gibbiceps WF(sold as A. agassizii "Tefe"). Why interesting? Females have 2 black spots on each side, not one as usually. First spot is always smaller than second, one female has only a black point.
It's F1 fish, parents were A. iniridae by catch from Colombia.
I'm wondering about shape of body- is more robust than at my previous Kurzlappen-Breitbinden male. Also membranes of dorsal fin are thiner, not so impressive.
Early July, when I have bought them:
And now:
I have them in 80x40cm bottom tank with some Ch. bivittatum Funge as dithers. They haven't spawned, but as you can see, female is ready. :)
Water parameters: pH around 6.,2 100% RO, so hardness is around 0-1.
My 2nd try with this species. At first I had two males.
4th day(female and 1st day after hatch)
10th day, fry today started swimming.
Water parameters:
pH around 6.0(I had problems with Hexamita and I was making big water changes before spawn so pH got higher), water...
There're only problems in Poland to buy Artemia salina/franciscana or it's "global" problem? First prices were going crazy up(near 200%) and now it's hard to buy anywhere.
It's not only hobbist problem, also big companies have problems with buying Artemia...

The closest:
pH around 5.8-6.0, hardnesses near 0, T=25*C
I haven't seen more nervous female as her. If I was be able to catch Microrasboras Galaxy(as "dither fish") I'd do it, but probably female would have eat fry.
I couldn't find that I have any thread with batch of my dwarfs, so I'll make one. :)
The newest photos of my A. barlowi(WF) :
and their tank(96 litres):
Taeniacara candidi(probably Czech breed)
1st pair
and their tank(96 litres):
2nd pair...
At our polish forum about Apisto we are talking about sex ratio of Apistogramma mendezi.
We are searching for the best water conditions to have 50:50 sex ratio of offsprings(having more females than males is too good, 1:1 will satisfy us ).
In one of case:
1+1 A. mendezi F1
4,5...
I'm hoping that you won't be angry for showing you a two small galleries from botanic garden in my city.
Because of part of year(early autumn) many plants were preparing for winter and I can't show you the most beautiful side of garden. I'm hoping that I'll be able to do that at next year...
Unfortunately no Apistogrammas there. Only brown and rainbow trouts and grayling(and other "dither fishes" ;-) )
Few years ago this creek looked(the same place!) as on photos below:
but now in Poland we have a rush for concreting and straightening all rivers and creeks. :eek...
This fish should be female(as female I bought "her") but now I think that I have a sneaker male.
If it's male it would be my second try with this species and second timewith two males and no female....
Few days ago my male barlowi stolen some of fry from female. He didn't want to give them back and was swimming with them in his mouth.
After around 30 minutes he gave them back.
P.S.
Yes, I have to many algae everywhere. I wanted to make with tank but now I have fry.
I was very very surprised when I saw today in one of my tanks female of "Black Chin"(she was bought as BC and had fry with male of Bc) with larvae! But! Only male I have in this tank is male of A. cacatuoides!
Can you help me with identification of female?
I have a little puzzle with my A. sp. "Breitbinden" female. This fish should be a female(as female I bought), but aren't dorsal and caudal fin too long? For me it's male... :-(
Here photos of this fish:
Oh, my fishes were so well. :frown:
Certain group of my Inka's females is attacked by unknown for me micro organism(or micro organisms). I thought that this is infection made by parasitic Flagellata(fishes are fast "breathing", thread-like faeces) but by using 4 times since now (4 mg on 1 litre...
