Hi , I've kept rams and apistos together with no problems, however my kribs were an absolute nightmare in a community tank, they hated and chased everything.
I've been too, bought a pair of a. triffs, me n my dog spent a few hours the next day searching for oak leaves....you have great stock and aquariums. Any chance of any bitaeniata shusupe coming soon?
're:bucket, are they the same material...plastic or metal, I'm just thinking that the water becomes more ionized when stood, some chemical reaction from the vessel. Once the water is added to the tank these free ions (leeches from the storage vessel ) are displaced by pump agitation or key to...
I'm no chemist/ physicist but am also getting into the idea of more accurately controlled water. Here's a few ideas for you to consider, I'm not saying these are definates more over active musings from a dodgy brain! 1.water temperature differences can swing results and exaggerate differences...
Just looking at your proposed tankmates....very nice choice, only slight concern is that in my experience my ottos do get chased a bit by my apistos, I think it's the stripes and the fact the ottos look for algae on the clay pots and stubbornly keep returning.
I'd say open top is a bad idea, I've seen my male agazizizi jump out of the water when chased by his bossy partner when she's grumpy. Also you have a chance of condensation issues with localised wall coverings and plasterwork etc.
