    60 gallon

This is only my second tank. I am looking into the ph meter but i havent been serious about breeding so it isnt really neccassary. I am just looking for a way to know what my ph is in my rainwater after adding peat. I will look into the various apistos you suggested and I had the same worries...

    60 gallon

I recently purchased a 60 gallon tank (48.5x17.25x15.5") I purchased an xp2 with it, I got an inline eth heater and a glass hood with a light fixture. I havent set it up because my parents wont let me until i raise my japanese grade. With this in mind i have time to plan it out. I was thinking...

    Ph testers/meters

I was actually looking at that model but I ran into a hydroponics sight that had quite a few people who thought it was crap they had problems with it not calibrating right or not at all and other stuff. I still think its the best deal out of the ones i have looked at glad to here somebody likes...

    Ph testers/meters

What do you guys use to find your ph or tds/con. I am not very good at using the color charts so i was interested in purhcasing a ph tester but dont know which to buy. I know of oakton, milwaukee(sp?), hanna, and a few more but when i google for information on them they are all hydroponics...

    Eating dwarf hair grass

Really yours just died back like that. Mine is still growing new stems but maybe it was just the plants dying back really fast. I dont think this is the problem because i posted this question on aquatic plant central and they didnt mention a die back in the hair grass but I will do some research...

    Eating dwarf hair grass

i just counted and when i got to 200 i gave up but it isnt much more than this. Thats 200 blades/stems or whatever they are called that have been eaten or destroyed(not sure which) by 4 bitaeniata. There is till probably 300 left but at this rate they will destroy it all by the end of next week...

    Eating dwarf hair grass

But i dont see any floating grass and they have killed a lot of stems. Everyone has told me the same thing that they dont eat plants so maybe there is a micorganism of some sort on it but do they have to kill it to get at it. My mom has my digital camera so i cant take any pictures. David...

    Eating dwarf hair grass

I just noticed a few hours after the apistos went into my tank that alot of my hair grass are just a bunch of stubs poking up out of the ground. Some of them where the remainders of the emersed version that hasnt completely died yet. All the ones left look healthy but there isnt all that much...

    New home

I like the ideas of different ways to make them homes. They seem to get along well and they spend most of thier time out in the open. I will still look for some homes for them. Thanks.

    New home

What are some good things i can put in my tanks as homes for my apisto bitaeniata. I want to make sure they have a place to hide until they can settle in and also for when they get scared. I have heard the clay pot idea but i was looking for something i could find around the house. I have some...

    Apistogramma bittaeniata

yes i realize less kh means a lower ph with equal co2. I just figured when you say I need a lower ph that you want me to accomplish that with lowering kh not by increasing co2. I was going to do this mostly to lower my gh. I just hope my plants dont suffer but i am pretty sure they will be fine...

    Apistogramma bittaeniata

I assume you mean lower ph through lower kh not through co2 injection is this correct. I currently slightly overdose with my co2 and have a ph around 6.6 to 6.8. Do you think a mix of half tap to half RO would be a good way of lowering both or should i just modify the water with peat or a...

    Apistogramma bittaeniata

I am getting two pairs of these apistos and wondered if anyone had any experience with these specifically. I ordered them from apistodave on aquabid he seemed to have a lot of good feedback so I thought i would take a risk, and buy some fish online. Currently i only have 1-29 gallon community...
