Any chance of more pictures of the fish? I can't see the ventral fins which would be VERY helpful as females will show a black leading edge to those fins.
My guess is that your 'female' is a young male. Females rarely show and color on the face and the lateral band is almost always broken into a series of spots. My experience with A. cf. alacrina Rotpunkt is that 'sneaker males' are quite common when in with a dominant male. You could remove this fish to another tank and see if it develops into a male.
