Blue ram's out fighting panduro?

To ensure that my apistogramma panduro and altum angelfish are disease free I put a single blue ram from my discus tank in with them...he's literally beating the hell out of the panduro, any time they come within the sponge filter he's made into his home he scares the crap out of em'...

I just thought this was odd, I never knew blue ram were this violent, especially towards other species?

Just because rams are considered a little delicate and many people have some difficulty in keeping them, doesn't mean they are weak. They are Cichlids and as such are fully capable of deciding to rule the tank, even against fish that are considered tougher. However, that also doesn't mean that the panduro might not turn the tides on him, if left together for awhile.

Well, I've kept blue ram for years now and never seen half the aggression they're showing towards these apisto's from them...I've also never seen them be nearly this aggressive towards one another, or vice versa for the apisto's...lip locking etc...thought it was odd.

Granted. It is unusual, but that is why I always say that the personality of an individual fish is as important to their behavior as the supposed species characteristics. Your ram just does know what a normal ram is supposed to behave like.
