I have two Blue Acara and I'm trying to figure out if they are male and female the pet store I bought them from said there wasn't a way to tell if they are male or female. If someone knows about these type of fish please let me know.

Hello Aaron,

Aequidens pulcher males grow larger than females, are more colorful, and possess more elongated dorsal and anal fins.

I now know that I have a male and female. The other question I have is when will they start to breed because they are about two inches already and have become more aggresive since I first got them. Does this mean that they are ready to breed?

Hello Aaron,

Aequidens pulcher is not considered to be an overly aggressive species. What size tank do you have them in, please?
