Hi there,

I have a question on why some of my apistos and dwarf rams after a while of being in my 300-gal tank, they cramp their tails just like if they had tail rot, but it isn't because it never rots before they die. The rest of my fish like Bolivian Rams, other apistos, tetras, etc. don't get it. I do 40% water change every week

My water parameters:

PH 6.6-7.0
KH 7
GH 8
150 pmm
Temp 80

apisto is a genus; some species in the genus of apisto will find your water on the hard side of things; others will find it nice and comfty. That might or might not be releated to your issue.

Sounds like it's stress-related. First comes stress, then come diseases and parasites, then, often very quickly, death.
The information isn't sufficient.

- What's the full stocking list?
- What do you feed? How much? How often?
- Any maintenance besides waterchanges?
- Which fish exactly were affected? What species and sexes? How long have you had each and how old were they (if you can tell the latter)?
- Please post a picture of the tank, often that helps a lot or might even make the problem obvious immediately.

Other that that: What are the 150ppm in the water parameters list?

Also, the likelyhood we find a definitive cause of death is below 10%. Plausible reasons are likelier to find.
