Hello, how many degrees should the aquarium be to get an equal number of male and female offspring for apistogramma cacatuoides orange flash and apistogramma trifasciata ?
Thank you very much sirPer Römer & W. Beisenherz, 1996, Environmental determination of sex in Apistogrammai (Cichlidae) and two other freshwater fishes (Teleostei), Journal of Fish Biology 26°C/79°F. The trick is to get all of the fry to survive. In my experience more males usually survive than females otherwise. Thus you might want to drop the temperature a bit to get more even numbers from a typical spawn.
