Apistogramma gephyra or not ?

Hello,
I wonder if Apistogramma gephyra can develop two lateral spots as on the photo. The seller assures me that this is a gephyra but I doubt because the fishes of agassizii complex do not show these spots but still a longitudinal line.

Thank you in advance

Yes, gephyra can show two lateral spots like the one in your photo. I have gephyra at the moment, and of the 30 specimens most of them show two lateral spots like yours. It's still rare to see it as clearly as in your photo.

A.gephyra develops a spade-shaped caudalfin to some extent, but usually not as much as A.agassizii. If you're thinking about the fish in the photo above, I think the angle makes it look less pointed than it might be. But A.gephyra males can also have a caudal fin that is not very pointed/spade-shaped.
