John,
I came across this website through a sales link at the ASG site. I haven't used them, but they are located in Montreal.

Well, came back from my first auction and had a great time. I wasn't expecting so many people, or items.
Thanks for the advice about not buying the first lot and taking only the cash that you want to spend.
I picked up some cribs, anubias, a pair of Rams, a trio of Aggies, and some gold...
I'll let you know Friday. I am going to go, I just dont know when..9:30-6:00pm is a big window and the longer I am gone, the more nervous my bank account (and wife) will get.
So..is it a silent auction? or are things being sold throughout the day?
Is anyone, or has anyone ever gone to the Brampton Aquarium Club fish auction? It is happening this Saturday.
I've never gone to one before, but I think I'll check it out and was wondering what to expect.
John's right about the hours, especially during the week.
Your best bet is on the weekend.
I've come across no problems on the sex issue on my purchases, but the tank mislabelling seems to be more not getting around to changing the names when they are re-stocked. The tank that is/was...
Do you mean the impact of commercial breeding for the hobby trade or comercial consumption?
Salmon/Trout fish farms are said to have an environmental impact on native stocks and water pollution levels.
If this is your angle, check recent British Columbia online newspapers for articles that...
Aquarium Depot in Brampton usually has quite a few varieties and gets regular shipments in as well. That is where I get most of mine and have had no problems. Their shipments come from Germany..if that matters.
They are at steeles/torbram.
I added a pair of Bitaeniata and Viejite to my 75 gallon tank that already had a pair of Cacatuoides.
The Bitaeniata are doing fine, but the male Caca. is really picking on the male Viejita. There are several plants/caves for all the fish to hide/roost and I am hoping the aggression will die...
well,
She was dead this morning, as I thought she might have been. The rest of the fish appear healthy and eating well. She was about 1" when I got her.
The reason why I mentioned her size is that I bought a pair from a chain lfs, and I recently picked up a pair of Cauc's from an independent...
I have a female Agassizii that I found today breathing, but standing on her head at the bottom of the tank. I can hold her and she will move a bit, but not enough to swim and not really struggling. Sometimes she curls in a C shape, but that is about it.
I am not familiar with fish disease...
..so you dont recommend adding laterite when initally setting up a tank?
I had a planted 65 about 10 years back and getting back into the hobby with a 75.
All I did back then was add the plants (had a friend who owned a toronto aquarium shop, much cheaper!) and every 2 weeks add a liquid...
thanks all,
Maybe if I have the stone in the tank for a bit, the novelty of bubbles will wear off and I cna get rid of it.
Aspen, just curious, which LFS do you deal with for fish and plants?
I'm just west of you.
Glad to find a forum that deals specifically with my favorite fish..
I'm setting up a 75gal. apisto tank and I would like to use a canister filter for filtration. The Fluval 304 is rated for tanks up to 70 gal. but in an apisto tank, would that be adequate, or should I get the 404 model...
