I'm wondering if I can get more cichlids for my 40g breeder. I'm thinking of a trio of apistos, a couple of bolivian rams, or maybe even 2 more Laetacara dorsigera.
My current stock list:
1 Laetacara dorsigera
4 Upside-down catfish
6 White cloud mountain minnows
5 Head-and-tail light...
Is a 40 breeder big enough for a pair of L. dorsigera to breed in without them harming the other fish? Right now, I have in there:
1 Laetacara dorsigera (probably female)
4 Upside-down catfish
7 White cloud mountain minnows
5 Head-and-tail light tetras
3 Honey gouramis
2 SAE's
2 Otos...
I'm planning to start a second 20g long as a bare-bottom breeding tank. Right now, I'm thinking a pair of German Blue Rams or Laetacara Dorsigera, with a BN plec to clean up the algae.
What other dwarf cichlids would you recommend besides apistos?
Would they do ok in a bare-bottom tank...
In September, I did a 7-day Maracyn 1/2 treatment of a pair of Laetacara dorsigera for what I believed to be mild popeye. I used a bunch of live plants to control the ammonia levels, as well as an AC 30 filter in the 10 gallon hospital tank for water circulation.
