    Dicrossus maculatus sexing

Not the best photo as they are always on the move, but here is one with the suspect and another male near. The behaviour isn't much behaviour toward this one, the other males are usually chasing eachother around if they get too close to one another, this one is mostly ignored. The first photo...

    Dicrossus maculatus sexing

The suspect is sitting at 4-5 cm while the rest of the confirmed males are all 6-7 cm I have 7 maculatus in total with this one being the smallest, also showing the least coloration. I am hoping for a female but not holding my breath, last time these guys were imported here was over 20 years...

Hello all, I have recently received some dicrossus maculatus I believe, I was hoping to try breeding them. However I have mostly males and one possible female, I am starting to think she may actually be a he as time goes on. Any help in sexing these guys would be amazing. I have an images...

    New Apistos in New Zealand

Hi all, In the last few months I have gotten some new apistos not seen in NZ for at least 15 years or more. I have Hongsloi and Bitaeniata which are breeding in a colony situation quite successfully, 2 males and 4 females of each in tanks with lots of leaves, sticks and driftwood. Just today...

    900L Rio Nanay Biotope Species

Hi all, I have recently picked up a 1200x1200x630 aquarium. I am looking to do a Rio Nanay Biotope, lots of driftwood, Echinodorus Amazonicus, Hydrocolyte leocuphala and dwarf sag. In the past I have kept and bred every species of Apisto available here in New Zealand. I have managed to...

    Apisto fry, missing ventrals?

the father of this specific bunch of fry has since passed on, I have bred the female with others and fry are fine so I’m thinking the genetic defects came from his side. To be honest I’m thinking of culling the lot except a few females as it seems 100% of the males are deformed but a good number...

    Apisto fry, missing ventrals?

No micro worms but they did spend a significant amount of time near the bottom, I read the same thing about Berta’s so I thought it’s a possibility here too.

Your first photo is a female, the second is a male, your third photo I’m assuming is the same fish as the first?

Does anyone know what is going on with my Apistos? I can’t find anything on google...

If it is the callamanus works causing their deaths, yes I would worry about the other tank mates :) I would run a course if levamisole if I was you.

Does anyone know what is going on with my Apistos? I can’t find anything on google...

I agree with Gerald, I can’t see the images either but from your descriptions it sounds like something I went through a while back, this came from feeding bloodworms, since I’ve stopped feeding bloodworms it has not happened again. That definitely looks like camallanus, I havnt had any luck...

Age or size to sell Cacatuoides?

Perfect! Thank you very much Mike! These were raised on Hikari first bites, and later moved to crushed vibra bites, discus bio gold and a small amount of vege wafer, the size would be due to the 6x small feedings a day with maintaining a near zero nitrate level as they are growing out. Jordan

Is this a female Agassizii DR?

Based off the rays being rounded and not sharp I would say female, although I do have a female Cacatuoides with pointed rays so it doesn’t always run true, I havnt kept Agassizii but I’m in the process of trying to get my hands on a pair for a Rio Nanay Biotope, how does the male act towards...
