Recently I posted trying to identify what apistogramma sp. “Orange” was, and believed it was a miss name and was incorrect. However now I have ran into them again at my local club auction and multiple commented on them saying they’ve kept them and love them. But still little info on what they...
There is a school of 10 panda cories in there, so I’d assume she’s getting some interaction. I think it’s more me mourning the loss then the fish... ah well, maybe adding some pencils or tetras would keep her happy

I've recently fallen in love with the species and was wondering where people can get these fish. I have seen very little at the moment and any info I can get about where to get them would be appreciated.
Sounds weird, I know, but this is something I’ve always been curious about and recent event have further it even more. Recently the male from my long time pair of A. Cacatuoidies passed away from age. Since then the female has been dark colored, slow moving, less food driving, and over all “sad”...
All,
Today I picked up a pair of apistogramma sold as apistogramma sp. “orange”. No to be confused with A. Cacatoidies “Orange Flash” line, they are a currently unidentified species. While the store owner could be wrong, I trust him and know he’s reliable. However I would like to see if anyone...
Hey all, so I'm considering setting up a 40 long Ucayali river biotope. Stocking wise I'm thinking Panda Cories and Apistogramma Panduro, but I need some more suggestions. I plan on making it black water using items from tannin aquatics (even though I believe panda cories are from white water)...
This was such a cool discussion to read! I've had group spawns of apistos steal fry from other female and put them in their school, so it's always possible your's would've done it too. However given your circumstances I'm glad you didn't the risk. It would be an interesting experiment.

Dave,
If you’re looking to breed them it’ll definitely become an issue. However if it’s purely for enjoying the fish then you could get away with it. You just need to keep an eye on how they react to each other. If female starts to spawn the unsuccessful males with either be attacked or attack...
All males, agree with all the above. One seems to have a mutated spine of some sort (usually due to inbreeding), but to be expected considering they are a "color mutation."
Well that makes them a much better option. I have a local place that said they will try to get them in first but if they can't I'll give wet spot a go. Thanks for your help!
Yeah my problem with those is they don’t promise gender pairs for most of those. Otherwise I would’ve bought from them.

I believe more males develop at higher temps, and I think the mid point is about 80 degree for a 1:1 ratio. However if you loose a lot of fry it becomes a possibility to get all males and or all female.
Thanks, I’ll look into him. Do you ship? I actually have a wild caught male and would love to use him to freshen up captive gentics, just need a bunch of females.
