Guess I'm trading them. Already had an offer. 4 blue rams from a local breeder, a male, two females, and a 4th uncertain. He said he's already had two spawnings from them, which is GREAT news for me. :)
I could probably get more for them... but they don't have any intrinsic value for /me/...
My local fish forum is confirming that ID as well. Looks like I managed to get a screaming deal on a fairly expensive fish.
Now to make up my mind on whether to stick with it, or find someone to trade them to locally. :)
That seems... unlikely, but I suppose it's possible.
These were in the section with the rest of the South American dwarfs, but didn't have a species name.
If you're correct in your id, just how big can I expect these guys to get? I was aiming for small fish.
Edit: I've found some...
Yeah. My tank is at 78 right now. I'll bump the heater up a bit when I get home. I'll also be adding a new light, so that may push the temperature up a couple degrees too.
Thanks! I'll keep hoping. I watch them every day, looking for strong pairing or pink bellies, but no luck so far. Ah well. Even if they don't spawn, they're the highlight of the tank.
Can anyone point me to a good site describing the behavior of blue rams as they start to form breeding pairs? I've started to see some new behavior in my little school, and I'm hoping it means they're starting to pair up.
Basically, I've spotted the dominant male swimming in circles with one...
Thanks! He's by far the dominant ram in the tank. :)
So far, all of them seem to be males. No pink bellies, though I keep hoping one of the five will turn out to be female. Preferably two or three. :)
Very nice. :) I need to get a good digital SLR, so I have more control of my pictures. *sigh* Maybe this year sometime, if I can get my wife to follow our budget. :)
