    Juvenile Apistogramma Borellii

It could be many different things, including a raised or missing scale. Better photos also from different perspectives would definitely help. I do hope you have it and you newr pair in a quarantine tank.

    Apisto pigmentation

My guess is that there are several black-spot causes. All I know is that none of my Cristal fry develop the black spots and they are usually kept with the adults for 2 - 3 months or more. None of the F2s and later offspring have ever shown spots either, so it seems to be environmental rather...

    Apistos and panda garra?

Never kept Garra, but I would imagine that they would have similar problems that Corys have with apistos.

    Apistogramma id

If it came with Cory. pygmaeus then it is unlikely that the apistos are from the Orinoco system where the A. hoignei forms are found. It probably is a form of A. cf. eunotus.

    Apisto pigmentation

If this was truly a genetic variation, one would expect to see some of the offspring show it, too. I know of no reports of the black spots appearing on offspring.

    Apisto pigmentation

Your fish actually has what is called a black spot syndrome caused by a parasite. Fortunately it is not fatal for the fish and is not transmitted to other fish in your tank. The parasite needs a second host, a bird to eat the fish, before it can reproduce, be released in water in the bird's...

    Starting my apistogramma breeding "Help"

It really is hard to say anything without more information. As Darrel wrote, a full-view photo of each tank would be helpful. Also any water values (pH, hardness, dKH or µS, temperature) as well as tank maintenance and lighting (intensity and length) will help.

    What kind of Agassizii?

Polychromatic simply means 'many colors' and in many populations of agassizii-complex collected from the same locale the males are polychromatic.

    Apistogramma kullanderi

A little history on this species. Ever since the first photos of just caught A. kullanderi (=A. sp. Gigas) appeared on line, aquarists begged to get them into the hobby. Brazilian exporters sent collectors to the Rio Curuá in the upper Rio Xingu to collect some. The fish brought back came from...

    Apistogramma kullanderi

... and they weren't the true A. kullanderi!

    Agassizi mating

Err ... do you mean an agassizii double red with an agassizii triple red (whatever that is) or a cacatuoides triple red??

    blackwater tank cycling?

As for cameras, any of the present manufacturers have very good quality cameras. I use a 12 year old Pentax mainly because I have had a Pentax since the 1960s and unlike other camera brands Pentax considers "backwards compatibility" an asset. I can still use my old lens from the 60s (and even...

    blackwater tank cycling?

I think you have discovered that a cell phone is not a good camera under less than optimal conditions. Even with a decent quality camera photographing small fish can be a challenge. Present day phones are "a Jack of all trades and a master of none". Even audio clarity of phone calls is reported...

    A. allpahuayo?; A. foconat and A. martini (both sympatric with N. mortenthaleri if I recall correctly)
