Thank you for the response. I am considering just putting him down. Do you think this bacteria will affect the other fish in the tank?? As for putting him down, I read clove oil is most humane, is this true?
Of course I would want to help him, but I understand he may be past saving. Just sad he was my favorite fish and only about a year old. Sounds grim, but should I put him out of his misery? I feel bad he looks like he is suffering. I don't know what to do.
Update; He is still in the same spot....wouldn't eat again today. Seems to just be breathing hard and flaring his fins and gills and shaking every once in a while. Anyone have any thought on how I can help him?? All other fish still look fine.

I got him about 3 1/2 months ago, not sure how old he was when I bought him though. He is about 2 1/2 inches long at this time. Maybe he is developing colors/patterns? Because I know he didn't have this a few weeks ago from previous photos of him.

I have that drift wood in the background of the pic and it has a "cave" running through it, on the other side of my tank (20g long) i have a few rocks and a drift wood root for a make shift cave as well. Should i get like a real ceramic cave? Would that help?? Thanks for the reply
