Ich or something else on GBR - please advise

Hey Flyfan, Sorry to hear about a similar experience. I have no thoughts, outside of checking your water parameters. I can tell you that the Male that passed with similar issues to yours was from a Major Pet store change and are apparently "pumped with hormones and tend not to last long". I...

    German blue rams courting

Hey Danny, I am currently breeding 3 pairs GBR in a 75 gallon. If you need any help, just hit me up. Typically, if you give them a small clay pot saucer, they will spawn on that. not a super clear shot, the saucer is upside down, and the whitish specks are the eggs the male is guarding.

    Ram sexing

ran out of time to edit it fully. What I have noticed from my 3 breeding Pairs. The black spot comes and goes, as a show of dominance. I have yet to get a Pink bellied male. but stressed females will lose most coloring. Males tend to have a redder head. Currently, I have broods from all...

    Ram sexing

Hello, I currently have a 75 gal with 3 breeding pairs of GBR. pink belly = female. I have seen the Non-Dominant males lose their spot completely if another pair is breeding. in the picture, you can see the Female swimming above the male with fry. below him. Notice the pink belly on the...

    Male or Female Apistogramma Macmasterii?

As for the rocks, they came from a LFS's Imagitarium Seiryu Rock Aquascaping Kit, for what it's worth. But thanks for the advice, sounds like we will be keeping an even keener eye on the parameters.

Ich or something else on GBR - please advise

We have a German Blue Ram in a quarantine tank after we noticed that he had some white spots on his tail and dorsal. We thought maybe ich, but now are wondering if it could be lymphocystis. He's eating, and his energy seems to be normal. He did lose his mate recently to hole-in-the-head, so...

    Male or Female Apistogramma Macmasterii?

Thanks! They’re seiryu rocks. We did see a mild ph increase when we added the rocks, and we’re watching it to make sure nothing spikes. Current ph is around 7. You suggested more driftwood, and we know that lowers ph, so we’re hoping between the rocks and the wood we can find a happy equilibrium...

    Male or Female Apistogramma Macmasterii?

Hey, you were right! Spoke with the LFS, said they'll take the smaller of the two males back in exchange for a female once they get their shipment in tomorrow. Once we got the small guy out the big guy's colors started to lighten. Also rearranging the tank per your suggestion, getting a rock...

    Male or Female Apistogramma Macmasterii?

Hi Alberto, We spoke with the LFS who will exchange the smaller male with a female when they get their shipment in tomorrow. Once we pulled him out the larger started showing more color, especially on his dorsal and tail fins. We're rearranging the tank as well, building a rock cave in the...

    Male or Female Apistogramma Macmasterii?

Not yet, but hopefully someday. Spain is ultimately where we would like to end up. But, that will have to wait, until we are allowed back in the pool again.
