White ulcer.

Male A. Cactuoides developed a white spot on his head, right above the eye about 3 weeks ago. I quarenteened him in a 10g because none of the other fish showed any symptoms and I did not treat. Now my dominant male has same issue. It does not look like a lump or a growth... more like a white ulcer maybe. I'll try to get pics soon. Fish are both still eating, normal colored, and active. It seems to be very slow growing.

I had a female A. schwarzkinn "black chin" develop the same problem. It started with one little wound, and then spread to two. She, like yours, are eating fine and seem to be otherwise healthy. It seems it is some type of fungus, because at it's height, it was rather "fuzzy". I treated with erythromycin, which is said to help with furunculosis (open lesions), even though it's an anti bacterial rather than an anti fungus medication. Seems to be helping it not spread, but her wounds have not healed yet. We will see.

Hopefully someone here will chime in with some better info than I have.

Well, my male got it too. Both are gone. Antibacterial, anti fungal and anti parisite drugs did not seem to help.

I would be interested to see some pictures.

I posted a questions about a salt bath a few weeks ago because I had a similar problem with discus and a concentrated salt bath and then back into clean water cured that. No one seems to have tried it on apistos yet.
