white pimples..

My male blue ram has strange white "pimples" on his head, doesn't look like whitespot, no sign of "fluff". The spots are slightly raised and seem to be fairly regularly spaced around one eye, in between the eyes and a single spot on the other side. The tank was recently treated with a gentle antibiotic for an infection on my discus, but a guppy is showing signs of fin-rot now Any ideas what could be going wrong?

"White pimples"

It sounds like you might have a case of Hexamita. If you let things continue as is you would probably see the "white pimples" erupt into small red sores w/ a hole in the middle. My experience says to treat w/ metro orally (put a little metro in some blackworms or other food and let it sit for a while to soak in)then feed to the sick fish, and raise your temp and add an airstone. I keep my Rams at 86+. Rams however don't usually respond well to treatment for any of the more serious parasites/diseases. Good luck! Also keep in mind that the vector for this problem, be it Hex or not, is in your tank and should be dealt with even if the Rams die

He now has an identical pattern of spots around each eye, starting to look similar to spots I've seen on my catfish before that had something to do with the lymphatic system (I think)..... Photos to come...
