Good question! Personally, I prefer to pick out my own fish, but that means (usually) less selection. I find that going to regional or national fish conventions are a good place to look. The best - and definitely most expensive - is going to South America and collecting your own fish. Also meeting people in the hobby face to face you get to know who has quality fish. I know this doesn't really answer your question. Sorry.
