I have a pair of Apisto Eliza, who were attempting to spawn regularly, with the female laying eggs. These 2 had grown up together and are about 9 mos old.
I added a more mature (1.5 years) adult female Eliza to the mix. The male has asserted his dominance over the new female, but no major sparks other than at meal time.
The newly added older female and male do not show very much interest in each other, after about 1 month in the tank together. Does it take longer for them to take interest in each other and start courting/mating? Is it possible she is too old for him? The female has a slightly diff. color strain, so perhaps she isn't very attractive to him...
I will add some terra cotta spawning caves, maybe that will help.
Any insights would be appreciated,
