I have had my fish for a little over a day and a half. They are 2 male njensseni. As far as I can tell, they have not been eating yet. Is this normal. I feed them Cichlid Omni Formula flakes. Please help me A.S.A.P. Thanks :!:

You are worrying a bit early. Are the fish wild caught? If so, then it may take a while to get them going on prepared foods. Try some live baby brine shrimp.

O.K. I guess I was overeacting a little  he he. So I gave them a block of frozen brine shrimp. They dont seem to eat it right away. They let it sink, and then eat it. However this morning i noticed they each were eating some " leftovers". They would eat them and it would appear to come back out of their gills. Please help me! 8O Newb!

When I need to split up a cube of frozen food I just cut It with a knife. It takes a little pressure and if your not carefull the pieces can shoot off like little rockets but its really easy. Another aproach is to take a small glass and add some water then put in the frozen food and let it melt. You can then pour out the amount you need.

Another quick question, when you (everyone in general) feed their SA do you submerge the food or let it float on top. My SA tend to stay near the bottom of my tank, but they have been venturing higher up. Also do you (everyone in general) leave flake food as 1 big flake or do you "crunch" it up into tinnier bits. Thanks for all the help! :D

Very few of my apistos actually take flakes off the surface. Most will catch them as they sink or they will forage them off the bottom. I leave them whole for my angelfish, but I crunch them a little with my fingers as feed smaller fish.
