Hi all,
Internal backgrounds take up some tank volume so aren't ideal for small tanks, the easiest solution is a black plastic bin bag, stuck to the outside of the tank with cooking oil.
Personally I like an external expanded polystyrene ("Styrofoam") block, I just paint it with ordinary emulsion paint in a grey-green, darker at the bottom, lighter at the top, and then fasten it to the tank back (and side/sides) with stick-on velcro in the corners.
These blocks have the added advantage of insulation over paint etc
You can just see the foam back-ground (wedged in between the tank and the window) to the right of the 60 litre tanks in the photo.
