Hey koty, apologies for misinterpreting your message.
Thanks DH247. Such a confusing topic, at least to me  , you made it sounds so simple. :)
Hey Mike, that is interesting. Care to let us know what's the water parameters in your tank that your successful in breeding these beautiful fishes? Any tricks?
Alright guys, thanks for the information. Maybe I should just put in more effort in maintenance.
But on 2nd thoughts, both are new, about a month old. They should be working fine, shouldn't they. The PH pen is from Hanna Instrument while the PH monitor is some Taiwan import, some brand...
I have a reservoir(actually just a small tub) to prepare the water for my apistogramma tanks. I utilise the PH monitor to monitor the PH. This monitor has a probe which I place in the reservoir permanently. It gives PH readings of around 5 usually.
Lately, I got a new PH pen and got it...
Hi Ed, so nowadays you use your own salt mix to remineralise your RO water? Or do you use the Seachem Equilibrium?
Currently I use direct DI water filter through peat. I did not add anything to remineralise the water. Is there any cuase for concern?
Hey Graham, you mean you decap those eggs prior to hatching them and the hatch rate is good.
Care to share how do we decap these eggs? I got those commercially decapped eggs. I suppose they don't hatch...or will they?
Will a 1cm diameter hole meant for the female suffice?
Just sweated it out sawing and drilling the PVC pipes. Now tying to glue some soil on it to make it look natural.
Oh, I get what you mean.
Me too, using water soaked in peat in advance for water change. But do you run an air pump in this aged water to circulate it? Or do you just leave it stagnant with the peat inside.
ok guys, sorry for the mistake. It's the PH meter inaccuracy. I have just calibrated the meter and it gives reading of PH3.8. Wow, right, a cool 3.8 with DI water. Great.
I will be mixing these water with some parts of tap water for my water change.
I will also try to come up with a table...
Oh another thing is, the TDS readings have dropped from the original (with tap water) of about 100plus microsiemens, to now 33 microsiemens, even though the PH has risen.
Thanks guys for the advice.
I got the peat moss and I placed it in a 1ftcube tank with filter running.
Initially, I am using straight tap water and the PH it gives after a few days of running is PH4. Then just 2 days back, I got a DI and the output water is about 22microsiemens (By right...
Thanks Mike. Meaning to say if we boil the peat afew times, it will clear the peat. But will it's 'potency' remains in bringing down the ph of water?
Also, I read somewhere that boiling will remove some good stuff, natural element, of the peat which is good for inducing breeding. I'm...
