Nature Pet Centre in Lasalle(Quebec) are pretty good at getting a wide variety of cichlids and other kinds of fish you don't normally get elsewhere. The guy that orders the fish is good friends with Oliver Lucanus and knows alot about what he orders, he goes direct and cuts out the middle man...

I almost bought the fish as he looked very nice, he was in a tank with some aequidens sp? and a chocolate cichlid.
This might be hard to find an answer but I saw a hemichromis species, I swore it said samba but that didn't make sense to me...anyways the second name begins with an s I could not find any fish with that letter any ideas?
The baby sacrimontis are all female the looks of it and I could not tell if the smaller ones were males. Iam making space for them, I will buy a few so at least I have some. When I see males I will buy them then.
I could not get a positive id on the fish, Iam sure they will be there when I go back next week. Myrnae does look like a name on the tank and the fish I looked up on the web seem to resemble it more than the others you both mentioned.
I don't know if this would be considered a dwarf question but also on my trip to the fish store I saw a Cryptoheros species marked "Blue eye"

Are there any other varieties other than the aquarium strains? I noticed alot of other Pelvicachromis species have different colour varieties but what about pulcher?

thats horrible, it's bad enough there are hybrids cichlids like parrot fish that are dyed...now they are resorting to Rams...what next? colour inject albino plecos:rolleyes:

Has there been any changes in the water ie temperature, pH, hardness etc?
It could be ammonia, have you tested your water lately?
or maybe even a broken heater...I suggest testing your water first it sounds water quality related
