Interesting read.. cheers for sharing
My Dicrossus Foirni would be lost without leaf litter in their tank. It was a cool moment watching one of my F1 grow big enough to fully turn a leaf over and search underneath it :)
I do not believe that you need to lower your pH to that level
I had wild caught Dicrossus Foirni and they reproduced successfully in the following water parameters:
Temp 25/26 degrees celsius
pH 5.2
dKH 0
dGH 1
It was a black water tank with a substantial amount of driftwood and leaf...
Current set up:
Fluval Roma 125 litre tank - Soft water south american set up (with the exception of the plants)
Fluval 206 external filter
Temp 25 degrees celsius
pH 6.4
dKH 0
dGH 1
Ammonia reading 0
Nitrite reading 0.07
Nitrates - cannot recall figure but reading was safe

I came across these rare Dwarf Cichlids in September of last year when my LFS had a batch in and these little beauties have been a favourite ever since
I've currently got (after a significant amount of time spent last year trying to source females) 1 adult male and 2 adult females in a Fluval...
Gorgeous fish.. my favourite dwarf cichlid
I've got 5 of these myself, 4 juveniles but I think all will turn out to be males..
In the UK these are currently being imported as D.Warzeli when they are actually D.Foirni..
Hi
Gorgeous and very rare. I've got 6 of these myself.. 4 definite males even though still juveniles so keeping my fingers crossed that one of the other 2 is a female
Did your pair, if that's what they were, spawn?
I should point out that you actually have 2 Dicrossus Foirni, not Warzeli...
