Mike Wise , you hit the nail on the head!

Well you were right, I started a thread back in late February asking about my free swimming fry that were acting very frisky. Anyway I never removed the babies and left their mother in the same tank and much to my surprise this morning she appeared with abut 60 fry. I guess it's a good thing I...

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

Can we meet at say the hidden reef either Friday afternoon, or Sunday at any time, week days are normally crazy for us so that pretty much leaves Friday and Sunday. OR I can leave it outside my house when we are all at work and school and you can grab it here. I sure we can work something out, David

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

Glad to hear it Chance, now for the sticky part, I had problems with this unit back in December primarily with the R/O membrane. So I placed an order with TFP, and received a new Kent membrane, which was a complete loser, because the output was about 5 gallons a week. So once again back to TFP...

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

Gents, good afternoon, the remaining Cacatoides fry are now approaching almost 1" I length, males are now easily sexable, fish that aren't displayino much orange I am assuming to be females. It has been a lot of fun and a little bit of extra time feeding and raising bbs but overall a great...

Fry already flirty, less than a month free swimming?

Thanks Mike, it is always a learning experience with these little fish, their behaviors, personalities, and life cycle. Without a doubt much more interesting, to me, than angel fish, discus or other community type soft water fish.

Fry already flirty, less than a month free swimming?

My A. Cacatoides pair spawned for the second time in January, and this time I have at least 4 maybe 5 babies left after they became free swimming onJan. 27. I have left them in the tank that they were spawned in along with their "Mum", who has become "Mommy Dearest". She gives them a hard time...

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

Happy Friday Men! After my h2o change on my 29 gal. tank this afternoon, I had a chance to observe what remains of my fry which appeared on the 24 the of January. Last night I tried to remove my female because she is becoming rather aggressive towards her offspring. That was unsuccessful because...

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

Gents, I didn't see any Cacatoides at TFF today, they did have 2 pairs of agassizi and that pair of BorrellI that I couldn't quite pull the trigger on. Anyway THR had a great selection of live plants today and at pretty good prices. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Dave

Kevin, where did you get the Bitaeniata from, mail order? The Christiansen brothers have a beautiful pair of these on their website, from the "Shushape" region, I think.

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

I'm also headed there this morning once I dump a couple of cups of coffee down my gullet. I really shouldn't but I am thinking about those BorrellI that Erty told us about, that happens to be the first apistogramma that I ever had, and still have soft spot for them. Dave

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

Kevin, I agree with Erty, your tanks look great, along with your live plants. Currently I am fighting a cyanobacteria algae issue in both of my tanks, and I don't think I am any closer to winning the battle than the day that I noticed the blue green slime. Hopefully 50 % h2o water changes weekly...

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

ThankS Kevin for all that good info, I now know who to blame when my wife questions my need for more tanks. Here I thought I was happy with just two aquariums but I fear you might have opened a new"can of worms". Well I can honestly say that it wasn't my fault, blame Kevin!

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

I think I'm good, I have plenty of BBS, the fish are in a heavily planted tank, with plenty of Java moss, and I plan on a 5 gallon h20 change daily on my 29 gal tank.

Gents, after a lengthy wait, my female Cacatoides has appeared with her brood, hopefully this time goes better than the last time around! Dave

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

She doesn't make it easy on me, every place that she has used this time and the time before have been really well hidden, she especially like the section of the tank that has abundant leaf litter, driftwood, and a collection of live plants to choose from. It is actually kind of weird that she...
