This was purchased from Petco without clear identification. After perusing the internet, we've come to the conclusion that it may be an apistogramma of some variety, possibly poorly bred. Any help in identifying it would be very appreciated.

I think its a Geophagus, one of the Geo. brasiliensis complex, but it looks different from the common run-of-the-mill brasiliensis. Post more pix as he/she grows up.

Thank you both for the information! Geophagus brasiliensis looks much closer and it's good to know it will get much larger.
