    A. Panduro - How to determine when to move onto a new potential pair?

Thanks heaps Mike and Shane. Mike, I think you might have been right on the mark with Nannacara. When I mentioned that 'the forum' suspected that might be the case the lady at the LFS wasn't surprised as they had some in the bay not that long ago. Shane, thanks mate. As a responder I can...

    A. Panduro - How to determine when to move onto a new potential pair?

Update: TL/DR - Moved fish, lost fish, bought fish. Now got 1 A.Panduro original female and 8 not sure what sex. I decided to take the route of getting a few more specimens to try and test compatibility which ended up causing some bumps along the way. On Saturday in preparation of setting up a...

    A. Panduro - How to determine when to move onto a new potential pair?

Thanks heaps Bart, I might end up down the path of adding more specimens. While my immediate goal isn't so much to get them breeding but rather making sure they are a compatible pair, so with that in mind do you think trying to get all of the conditions right for breeding would encourage them to...

    A. Panduro - How to determine when to move onto a new potential pair?

Sorry Bittnekkid, I didnt address all of your post. There are currently not dithers. However have considered whether adding some nannostomus might help. Havnt really moved ahead with this approach as I haven’t seen any shy behaviour. Shyness aside, the hypothesis could be that continual...

    A. Panduro - How to determine when to move onto a new potential pair?

Thanks Buttnekkid, hopefully they get better as they get older and can also appreciate the challenges troubleshooting on limited info. They were both purchased together and released from the bag at the same time. If you mean which left the bag first, I honestly can’t recall. I’ve read much...

    A. Panduro - How to determine when to move onto a new potential pair?

Hi All, Problem: Through what process do you determine when a pair is incompatible? Background: A few weeks ago on a shopping trip interstate where the quid pro quo was LFS's for shoe shops, I picked up a couple of A. Panduro . At one of the stores, there was a tank with only two left, and...

Accidents Happen - The Cacatuoides Spawn

Thanks Mike! Haha while not stressed about the outcome I'll always take the opportunity to learn. With no baseline it's hard to determine what's overkill. Would love to learn about any simpler methods. Update: came in this morning and the mum had them out in the open. Counted approx 50 fry and...

Accidents Happen - The Cacatuoides Spawn

The pair of young Cacs I'd set up a few weeks ago have decided to bring out some fry to show me. Though a few months ahead of my schedule, exciting nonetheless. I should know by now, that not much goes exactly to plan in this hobby. At a guess there's 20-30 free-swimming fry in a 15G dirted...

    Dust off the book shelf!

After digging through apisto.sites.no I can see you're certainly not wrong. There's so much more species variation than what's presented at the lfs. Looking forward to the journey.

    Dust off the book shelf!

Thanks Mike and Bart. Will track some down. Essentially, I came across buttnekkid's thread linking to a post on biofilm which was really insightful and wanted to find more gems like that as opposed to digging through Tank mate questions. Hoping to surface the interesting things people have...

    Hey hey hey

Haha wow! That's crazy! Thanks for reminding me why freshwater tanks are safer, I mean better... Don't worry Linus_Cello, us Aussie's are immune to all of the deadly animals thanks to Kangaroos being our main mode of transport...

    Dust off the book shelf!

Heya everyone. Being new to dwarf cichlids, I have been trawling through the all of the threads, old and new, learning a tonne from you all, however I feel I keep stumbling on the surface of topics and I want to go deeper. I'm hoping you all would be kind enough to share with me the different...

    Article on biofilm

Awesome articles! Had me following links deep into the internet. I only recently started diving into "natural" tanks using the walstad method which certainly opened my eyes more than the heavy filtered monster tanks. Definitely bookmarking this for a future display build, keen to try it out.

    Hey hey hey

Sorry Linus_Cello. In Canberra, Australia. They're Triple Reds with no certainty of generation. Australia is pretty challenging to find wild caught due to the strict bio security on importation. Hopefully one day but I'm sure I'd have dived deeper into some of the other species by that stage.
